Philip Friedlan, is a longstanding lawyer and tax practitioner. Phil’s expertise includes corporate and personal tax planning, estate planning, and the legal implementation of tax and estate plans. Phil also has an expertise in the taxation of life insurance and the use of life insurance and other financial products in tax and estate planning.
Phil is a frequent writer and speaker on taxation, estate planning and related legal matters. He is a regular contributor to the Canadian Tax Foundation’s Tax for the Owner Manager. He has been on the Planning Committee for the Ontario Tax Conference for over 20 years. He was a lecturer in income tax at York University and Vice Chair of the Taxation Committee of the Toronto Board of Trade.
Phil was awarded the Canadian Tax Foundation’s Lifetime Contribution Award in 2019.
Phil received his law degrees from the University of Toronto (JD) and McGill University (BCL), holds a MBA from York University and a BSc from McGill University.
Phil is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

Adam Friedlan is a tax and estate planning lawyer. His areas of practice include corporate and personal tax planning and estate planning, implementation of tax and estate plans, and the preparation of trusts, wills and powers of attorney.
Adam received his primary law degree from the University of Toronto, holds a Master of Laws in U.S. Taxation from New York University School of Law and an undergraduate degree from University of Chicago. Adam has also completed the In-depth Tax Course and the In-depth HST/GST Course conducted by CPA Canada. He is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and the Canadian Tax Foundation.
Adam is a prolific writer on tax-related related topics including on social media and is a regulator contributor to Canadian Tax Foundation’s Tax for the Owner Manager.
